                  The Neo-Natal Appeal 2007 - Raised: $ 132,000.00.

The Neo-Natal Appeal was created in 2007 by Mr. Darren Marton. And as the founding manager of The No-Way Campaign, Darren strongly believes in providing as many sporting activities for our youth to keep them healthy and active, with sports such as surfing, and at the same time raise money for a really special cause indeed. The No-Way Campaign then joined forces with Thiess Australia, and then also gained the support of many others with the hope of making a real difference in the lives of others.

The Neo-Natal Appeal 2007 was a community based fund raising appeal that was comprised of basicly three fundraising events. The three vents took place during the month of November, wrapping up our 4 week fund raising appeal with The No-Way Campaign junior surf classic 2007 at North Cronulla Beach, Sydney. All proceeds raised have gone directly to purchase equipment to continue best practice care, and outcomes for premature babies at Westmead Hospital.

Westmead Hospital Woman’s Health & Newborn Care Departments have undergone a major re-construction during 2007. All components of Women’s & Babies care at Westmead are now located on three levels, all positioned around the main hospital entrance. As part of this program, the Neo-Natal Intensive Care and Special Care nurseries have been designed & built enabling the two nurseries to be physically joined in one large ‘state of the art’ department, named “Westmead Hospital Center for Newborn Care".

The new facility will have a family focus, offering optimal care for the babies and futuristic working facilities for staff. The building of this fabulous new facility was never intended to also fund new equipment. Although this unit has some of the latest technology, it requires further purchases of equipment to continue to provide best practice care & outcomes to babies from around the State.

Babies born prematurely are clearly – in some cases – in a life threatening situation. Especially if they are born very early. This presents trauma to the child and the parents and it’s a very worrying situation for any parent to go through. On behalf of everyone invloved, we would all like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed their time and finances to this very important cause indeed. ThankYou...
