There are many different kinds of drugs in our society today. The most common ones are nicotine and alcohol which are both legal, but by no means any less harmful.

There is one thing we all have in common - dreams and aspirations. Some may be big, and some may be small. But one things for sure, we all have them.

Students Feedback

When Darren came to my school, at first I was like, "Please don't bore me with stuff we already know", but when he started talking, the power of his experience and what he'd been through was amazing. If ever you want to find out why you shouldn't take drugs, use "The No-Way Campaign" and with Darren's inspiration you too can say, "No-Way", to drugs. Way to go Darren!

Hi Darren,

I thought your speech was very influential to me. I hear all the time teachers and parents telling us not to take drugs. But seeing someone today who has been through it all and suffered as a result of it has really made me not want to do it. I think he is a very good public speaker and was able to keep the attention of all the students. Not often do we witness some one who could have potentially been a great rugby league player, lose it all to drugs. I think he has had a huge influence on a lot of people and I encourage him to keep teaching people about drugs. Keep up the good work.

Dear Darren,

My name is Nikita; today you came to St.Patricks College Sutherland and spoke with my year group. I just wanted to let you know how much I got out of it and I really appreciate you passing on your knowledge. We get a lot of quest speakers that come and talk to us at school about statistics and numbers and things like that, but today when you spoke to us you gave everything true meaning and really helped me see the impact that these sorts of things can have on our lives. I really did get a lot out of your talk today and I want to wish you all the luck in the world with your dreams and what you want to become, and I also want to say WELL DONE! You are an inspiration to us all!

When my teachers announced that a man was coming to my school to give us a talk on drugs, I thought "This might be another talk that we get in PDH 'Don't do drugs, it can lead to vomiting, death blah blah blah.'" But when Darren started talking about his life, and drugs it was more like someone who could relate to us than a teacher telling us that it's wrong. He was discouraging us by telling us the real deal from his experience. He told us the harsh details in a way that proved it wasn't cool and definately did not help in any way. It scared me, what can happen, and knowing that some people my age are starting to drink and do drugs, it makes me thankful for a guy like Darren to be here today warning teenagers that not many people who do drugs, survive or make it in the real world. Thank you Darren, so much for giving us an insight on what can happen as a result of drugs.

Dear Darren,

Thank you very much for taking the time to come and talk to us about drugs. I was most touched by your miraculous story and the fact that you are now helping the youth to make the right choices. Your work has made a huge impact on many lives; I know it has impacted on my life tremendously. If you hadn’t had come to talk to us I don’t think I would have been be so confident to say no-way to drugs. Now I have made a definite choice to never ever take drugs all thanks to you, and that is a very encouraging statement for my life. Thanks again for all the work you have done for the youth.
