A group of 28 Indigenous children from Brewarrina, a small town in the north-west of NSW were shown the time of their lives thanks to The No-Way Campaign Foundation. Their day started off with a welcome from CEO Darren Marton who made this special event happen, with the help of some truly remarkable volunteers.
Then it was on to the fun stuff, our destination on the action-packed agenda was Maroubra Beach where Surfing NSW hosted a barbeque lunch on the pavilion balcony overlooking the beach. Then it was time to change into wetsuits for their surfing lesson - accompanied by a host of professional surf school experts.

Selected on their school attendance and good conduct around town, most of the children participating in the event had never seen the ocean before, let alone stand on a surfboard! "It was such a special day for these children," said Darren Marton, CEO of TNWC Foundation." We are committed to focusing on rural and remote areas right across Australia and promoting healthy lifestyle choices for young people - and we certianly achieved that."
With ASP World Tour competitor Sally Fitzgibbons (Gerroa, NSW) on board as a foundation ambassador, this was the start of a long and fruitful relashionship between Surfing NSW and TNWC Foundation. "To see their faces and reaction as they ran towards the ocean was priceless," said Mark Windon, Surfing NSW CEO. "It's such a great initiative and one we're extremely proud to be involved with."
